Here is one of the rare explanations of Imam Ahmad's Musnad, written by Shaykh Muhammad al-Kittani, one of the eminent Shaykhs who taught at the Masjid Nabawi in Medina.
He uses modern methodology in his explanation, using simple terms and explanations. His style is direct and concise, commenting only if he finds it necessary.
His Sharh develops the following points: details the chains of transmissions and narrators, and sometimes the Fiqh of the Hadith and the opinions of Ulemas, Fawaid and relevant annotations. Importantly, it gives the degree of authenticity of each Hadith.
Shaykh died, rahimahullah, without being able to complete the Musnad, the explanation goes as far as Hadith 8618.
The first volume contains a biography of the Shaykh as well as his chains of transmission which go back to several collections of Hadith. There is also a detailed research on the Musnad of Imam Ahmad, its composition, its place, etc ...
