The Prophetic Example in Bodily Trials

Zaad al-Ma'aad of Ibn al-Qayyim

This book is about the guidance of the Prophet ﷺ in the medicine that he practiced and prescribed to others. The book addresses multiple aspects of Prophetic medicine, including medications, general health, Islamic spiritual healing (ruqyah), intercessory energy, physical health, and the relationship between body and soul. Ibn al-Qayyim was able to connect the medical principles found in the Prophetic tradition with the medical knowledge of his era, and did not limit himself to mentioning treatments for illnesses, but gave great attention to their prevention.
Ibn al-Qayyim followed a strict methodology in his book, accepting only those hadiths proven to be authentic. He also connected various hadiths to form a clear picture of the Prophetic approach to treatment and prevention. The book "Prophetic Medicine" has played a major role in spreading awareness about the importance of Prophetic medicine, becoming an essential reference for researchers and scholars in this field. The book has also inspired many doctors and researchers to conduct scientific studies on the effectiveness of treatments derived from the Prophetic tradition.
