Tahrim al-Isbal ala ar-Rijal - Imam as-San'ani

Epistle of Imam Muhammad ibn Isma'il al-Emir as-San'ani on the prohibition for men to make the garment go under the ankles (Al-Isbal).

The Ulemas of Islam have agreed on the prohibition of letting go beyond the ankle by vanity and pride.

They have agreed on the detestable character of making the garment go under the ankle in the absence of vanity, but they have diverged on the level of the blame: is it only detestable or is it completely forbidden?

The subject of the resala relates to this last point and as-San'ani defends the point of view of the prohibition.
