Ihya ‘Ulum al-Din (The Revival of the Religious Knowledge) - al-Ghazali

It is the most famous work of Imam al-Ghazali, and one of the most famous and widespread Islamic books. It deals with Faith, works and piety, and how to attain a level of excellence (Ihsan) in its fields. It is therefore a book of purification and education of the soul, commonly called Tasawwuf.

The book is divided into four parts, each containing ten books. It explains the doctrines and practices of Islam and shows how these can become the basis for a life of deep devotion.

• The soul, the vices that people must master and overcome, the virtues that they must strive for.
