Jawahir ad-Durar fi Nadhm Madadi al-Usul Ibn Badis

The distinguished scholar and poet Zain al-Din al-Athari was known for his prolific composition. He composed numerous poems in the field of Arabic language, including the "Alfiyyat Mujmal al-Arab fi 'Ulum al-Adab," which he completed in the year 808 Hijri. A year later, he revisited it, preserving two-thirds of the original and adding and removing content. He named this revised work "Alfiyyat Lisan al-Arab fi 'Ulum al-Adab." In this work, he covered ten sciences of the Arabic language, such as morphology, calligraphy, rhyme, rhetoric, and more. He allocated around one hundred verses for each Arabic science, with a title for each, and he compiled these ten poems into a numbered "Alfiyya," creating a refined and revised masterpiece.
This work was edited by Muhammad bin Mahmood Aal-Rihab. One of the fruits of his labour was a very interesting comparison between the two versions of the "Alfiyyah."
