al-Qawa'id al-Fiqhiya from "I'lam al-Muwaqi'in"...

This is a simple and accessible book on the principles of Islamic jurisprudence (usul al-fiqh), essentially a summary of a summary. The original work is Al-Mustasfa by Al-Ghazali, which was abridged by Ibn Qudamah in Rawdhat al-Nadhir. Then Al-Tufi further summarized Rawdhat al-Nadhir in his book Al-Bulbul. The book in our hands is a summary of Al-Bulbul, titled Bulghat al-Wusul ila ‘Ilm al-Usul. It is the final link in a valuable scholarly chain, reflecting its importance despite its small size.
The author preserved much of Al-Tufi's wording, added certain points, and critiqued others. He also drew from Ibn al-Hajib's Mukhtasar. This book is one of the core texts in usul al-fiqh that is recommended for explanation and study. It includes an elaborate introduction, in which the author lists and arranges the major Hanbali usul summaries in chronological order.
