Tahdhib al-Asma wa al-Lughat - Imam an-Nawawi

An incredible book by Imam an-Nawawi that brings together biographies and a dictionary of complex words.

So we find very different biographies: men, women, Sahaba, Salaf, Angels, Jinn, whether Muslim or miscreant, pious or perverse.
Then comes the dictionary part which lists the difficult words of the verses or hadiths, the technical terms, the places, and the foreign words (Persian for example).

An-Nawawi did this work from the people and terms cited in the following 6 books: Mukhtasar al-Umm of Al-Muzani, al-Muhaddhab and at-Tanbih of Ash-Shirazi, al-Wasit and al-Wajiz al-Ghazali and his own book Rawdatu Talibin.

It is a reference work towards which the scholars return.
