Al-Munsif: Explaining Al-Mazini’s book At-Tasrif - Abul-Fath Ibn Jinni

The book (Al-Munsif) is the result of the combined efforts of two great scholars who sought to serve the Arabic language in their endeavor to serve the Book of Allah. The reviewer of the book will determine its the high status among the author’s other works of art, a status that seduced Ibn Jinni’s heart so much that he dedicated himself and his time to it, which ended with this unique explanation of Abu Uthman Al-Mazini’s book of “Tasreef” (morphology).

The researcher has classified the study of the book into six chapters, and this study was an account about Al-Mazini and Ibn Jinni, about Ibn Jinni’s approach in (Al-Munsif) and his sources, about the listening, which is the first principle of the argumentation in language and grammar, and about analogy, which is the second principle of the argumentation in language, and then he concluded his study by discussing conjugational causes.

As for the verification, the researcher has followed the approach adopted by the masters of this art, according to what they deemed endorsable. Then he described the written transcripts (five in number) upon which he relied to show the verified text, before delving into the investigation. Eventually, the book came in three parts except the study: The first and second parts were to explain the book “at-Tasreef” of Abi Uthman Al-Mazini, which included a narrative about the origins of the Arabic morphology; the third part was to explain the unfamiliar words present in the context of the book, as well as for the complex and puzzling issues.
