Kitab as-Siyar of Shaykh al-Islam al-Fazari (186H) - Maghazi & Siyar

The Book of As-Siyar is one of the oldest books dealing with the subject of military campaigns, biographies andJihad, and related provisions and legislations. The author Abu Ishaaq al-Fazaaree, may Allah have mercy on him, followed a very good method, as he cited every issue with a Hadith Marfu’ (Traceable Hadith). If he does not find a Hadith Marfu’, then it will be by the sayings of a Companion of the Prophet. Then he would substantiate the issue, after that, with the sayings of those who came after the Companions, until he ends up with his scholars from among the Followers of the Tabi'in. Hence, the book is a source in the knowledge of the jurisprudence of the military campaigns, biographies andJihad.

Many of those who came after the author benefited from the book and quoted from it, such as Imam Ibn Jarir at-Tabari in his book “Tahdib al-Athaar” and Ibn Qutaybah in his book “Gharib al-Hadith”.
