Al-'Ilal al-warida fi al-ahadith an-nabawiyyah: by Imam Ad-Daraqutni

 Ad-Daraqutni’s book “Al-Ilal” is considered to be one of the most comprehensive and best books on Al-Ilal (hidden defects of Ahadith).

Imam Ad-Dhahabi says: “If you want to know the ingenuity of this distinguished imam, then read his book Al-Ilal to your amazement and high admiration.”

Al-Hafiz Ibn Kathir says: “Ad-Daraqutni’s book “Al-Ilal” comprises all of what we have mentioned, and it is one of the best and finest books that have been written on this field. It is unprecedented as many have failed to produce a book like it; so may Allah have mercy on him and honour his resting place.”

Imam As-Sakhawi said: “It is a comprehensive book.”

The book “Al-Ilal” includes the defective Ahadith, classified as Marfu’ (Attributed to the Messenger of Allah and narrated by a Companion), Mursal (A Tabiyee narrating directly from the Messenger of Allah leaving a Sahabi from the chain)), Mawquf (stopped: a narration from a companion only), Maqtu’ (Severed: cannot be traced back to the Prophet peace be upon him, but to one of his companions, who explained it in their own words) and others; and it also covers the opinions of Imam ad-Daraqutni on some Hadith narrators.

The book editor has allocated a special index to it at the end of each volume.
