This book is one of the earliest specialized works on the subject of religious innovations in Islam, authored by Imam Muhammad ibn Waddah Al-Qurtubi who died in 287 AH. Ibn Waddah is considered one of the prominent scholars of Andalusia in the third century AH. He was a hadith scholar and historian who made scholarly journeys to the East where he met with prominent scholars and transferred their knowledge to Andalusia.
This book addresses the subject of religious innovations and practices that were introduced to Islam but did not exist during the time of the Prophet, peace be upon him, and his companions. The author aims to warn Muslims against innovating in religion and encourages them to adhere to the Prophetic Sunnah and follow the example of the early generations of the Muslim community, citing Prophetic hadiths and narrations from the companions and their followers.
